A Level Drama

In September 2002, Gobstoppers became a registered centre for education and was officially a school.  To continue with the demands of drama in education they began their first advanced course in drama and theatre studies.  In July 2008 the company where delighted with their 100% A-C grades at A level.

Professional actor Adrian Scarborough gave a fascinating workshop to our A level Drama & Theatre studies group on the work of Mike Leigh.

Adrian, who worked with Mike Leigh on the film ‘Vera Drake’, explained the intense improvisation process that is undertaken, when working  under the direction of Mike Leigh.

The group have been studying the play ‘Abigail’s Party’ so were delighted to hear that Adrian is friends with the actress Alison Steadman, the star of the film.  They both work on the comedy show ‘Gavin & Stacey’ and so Adrian was able to give his profession opinion of the process of the play.

This was an excellent workshop and lecture, which benefited our students greatly.

Thank you again Adrian.
